Tournament to raise money for prostate cancer research and salmon conservation
Switch has hooked up with Westcoast Resorts and is the official sponsor of the 2013 Salmon Masters Tournament, taking place from June 5-9, 2013.
The Salmon Masters Tournament takes place annually in Haida Gwai on BC's West coast. This year, the three lodges taking part were Hippa Lodge, Englefield Bay and Whale Channel. In addition to handing out over $360,000 in cash prizes, the tournament raises money for Prostate Cancer Foundation BC and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
Prostate Cancer Foundation BC is devoted to promoting health and awareness, assisting support groups, supporting research to improve treatment and find a cure.
The Pacific Salmon Foundation was established in 1987 as an "independent, non-governmental, charitable organization to protect, conserve and rebuild wild Pacific salmon populations in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory."
"Over 190 species of plants and animals depend on salmon: from algae and mosses to bears, whales and people. For salmon to survive and thrive, these genetically diverse fish need access to healthy habitat, food, good water quality and enough water in streams. Achieving healthy, sustainable and naturally diverse Pacific salmon stocks requires time, money and dedicated people."
In addition to promoting the event and participating in the fishing, Switch has provided t-shirts to anglers and guides, as well as King Pin folding chairs to be raffled off in order to raise money.
More information about the tournament can be found at the Westcoast Resorts Tournament page.
Switch intends to continue its sponsorship of the event for years to come. Tight lines and good fishing to all!
